Applications open for performers and stallholders for 2019 Multicultural Festival

Released 05/09/2018

Performers and stallholders are encouraged to apply for the 2019 National Multicultural Festival, Australia’s premier celebration of cultural diversity.

Next year’s festival will be held from Friday 15 February to Sunday 17 February 2019, with more than 200,000 people expected to attend the three day event.

“Civic will once again be a hub of cultural entertainment, music, concerts, dance and food showcasing a variety of cultural themes,” Minister for Multicultural Affairs Chris Steel said.

“This is an amazing time of year in Canberra when we can all come together and celebrate our unique multicultural community.

“Performers and stallholders are now invited to apply to be a part of this very special celebration of cultural diversity.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing a diverse range of performers and stallholders take part and help make next year’s National Multicultural Festival bigger and better than ever.”

Stallholder categories include community, community club, commercial, information and diplomatic mission. There are two categories for performers – professional and volunteers.

In applying for a stall, groups will be asked to include an indication of whether alcohol is intended to be sold and its cultural relevance. This reflects feedback from stallholders and showcase organisers from last year’s event.

Applications close midnight Sunday 30 September 2018.
