Master Plan and upgrade for Tuggeranong Town Park
The ACT Government is inviting Canberrans to provide input into the development of a Master Plan for Tuggeranong Town Park, ACT Member for Brindabella Joy Burch said today.
The ACT Government has allocated $80,000 for the preparation of the Master Plan as part of the Town and District Park Upgrade Program, with a further $1 million available to implement capital upgrades arising from the consultation and Master Plan.
Ms Burch said the Master Plan will provide a planning and concept design document to guide future improvements as well as management, maintenance and upgrade of the park over the next five to 10 years.
"The Tuggeranong Town Park Master Plan will guide the future management, maintenance and upgrade of the park over the next five to 10 years," Ms Burch said.
"Since the Town Park opened in 1995, community needs and demands have changed with the increase in residential development adjacent to the Town Centre. It is important to plan for the next stage in the park's life as the demand for higher quality recreational facilities increases."
Ms Burch said a comprehensive consultation process will be held with key ACT Government and community stakeholders.
"Following input from key stakeholders and the wider community, a draft Master Plan will be developed and released for further public comment. The final Master Plan is expected to be completed mid-2012."
Members of the public are invited to attend a drop-in consultation session on site on Thursday 3 May 2012 between 12:30 am and 2 pm a consultation session at the Tuggeranong Library on the evening of Thursday 3 May 2012 between 5:30pm and 7pm. Feedback forms are also available from the Tuggeranong Library, Tuggeranong Canberra Connect Shopfront or online at timetotalk.act.gov.au
Consultation closes 5pm Friday 18 May 2012 for the first stage of consultation. There will be further opportunity for comment on the Draft Master Plan in June.
