Summernats 31 set to roar into the capital

Released 07/12/2017

The four-day Summernats car festival that begins next month is expected to generate a $25 million economic benefit for the ACT.

In recognition of the economic activity generated by the event during a quiet period in the national capital, the ACT Government has agreed to a three year funding agreement with the event organisers of $200,000 per year from 2018 to 2020 from the existing Major Events Fund.

The ACT Government has been working closely with the Summernats management team as the event evolves into a more family friendly show catering to a wider and growing audience.

The largest automotive lifestyle event in the Southern Hemisphere last year drew record crowds of 119,000 people and 2,500 car entrants, the vast majority of which come from interstate.

Summernats 31 runs from 4 to 7 January 2018 at Exhibition Park in Mitchell.
