Statement on passing of Jayson Hinder

Released 25/07/2017

The ACT Labor team is deeply saddened to learn of the death of our friend and colleague Jayson Hinder.

Jayson was a great friend to many Canberrans – particularly his constituents and those of us in ACT Labor.

He was a man committed to the Labor cause and a strong advocate for the people of Ginninderra during his time in the ACT Legislative Assembly. He was passionate about delivering for the people he represented, and he was a powerful voice around the caucus table for services and infrastructure in the north of Canberra.

Jayson spent most of his life helping others. He raised thousands of dollars for worthy causes in the community, and gave his time to support organisations such as the Bendigo Community Bank. He was an active member of many Canberra sporting and community groups – he was often seen strapping on the tape to play local rugby and he was an avid supporter of the Brumbies. His contribution to the Canberra community will be sorely missed by many.

I have contacted Jayson’s family and passed on the condolences of the entire ACT Labor team. Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.
