Nominations open for Citizen of the Year

Released 10/11/2017

Nominations are now open for the 2018 Canberra Citizen of the Year Award, an annual accolade which recognises individuals and groups who have made an outstanding contribution to our community.

Since it was first awarded 42 years ago, the Canberra Citizen of the Year has honoured those who contribute to our city.

The 2017 Canberra Citizen of the Year Award was presented to Ms Alex Sloan*, who was recognised for her services to the community, through telling the stories of Canberrans over 22 years in local radio and through her selfless support of a range of community organisations and charitable events.

Other past recipients include Professor Chris Parish, Maureen Cane and Matilda House.

The ACT is home to many outstanding individuals who inspire others in the community, and I encourage all Canberrans to celebrate those citizens by making a nomination online at www.act.gov.au/cbrcitizen.
