Announcement of Canberra’s new Town Crier

Released 25/07/2017

Today I was pleased to officially announce the new Town Crier for Canberra.

Joseph McGrail-Bateup has been selected as the ACT’s official Town Crier. He takes over from Alan Moyse who retired in 2016 after five years in the role.

Mr McGrail-Bateup has a background in theatre and is involved with Canberra Repertory, Queanbeyan Players and Dirty Dick’s Theatre Restaurant.

Mr McGrail-Bateup’s services as Town Crier can now be booked by emailing towncriercbr@gmail.com. I look forward to see him perform at events around Canberra and wish him well in his new role.
