The Forage lights up Odgers Lane to launch City Action Plan

Released 25/07/2017

Our cool capital’s streets and laneways are springing into life with a series of events supported by the ACT Government.

Joining forces with Canberra-based events specialists The Forage, the Government will run a pop-up food market in Odgers Lane on 12 August to celebrate the launch of the City Action Plan. The Forage will bring together the best street food, beverages and live music Canberra has to offer to run an inclusive, fun event for all Canberrans.

The City Action Plan will also activate City Square as a live site for the AFL Grand Final, and work with the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects and Design Canberra to bring Garema Place and Haig Park alive.

The City Action Plan is a living plan, responding to community feedback on how the city should be best brought to life. It’s not government that makes a place cool, it’s the people. It’s your ideas, your suggestions and your creativity that will improve urban culture in our cool little capital.

We know that by cutting red tape, we make life easier for small organisations like The Forage to put their creative stamp on Canberra’s events and entertainment landscape, making our city a more attractive place to live and visit.

The city centre is Canberra’s civic heart, a place for everyone to live, work and spend time together. The City Action Plan will help keep our city centre a place for everyone, with events for everyone.

The City Action Plan outlines the Government’s vision for the city centre and provides actions on how we get there. The Government wants to hear from the community about its favourite spaces in the city, the places that don’t work and ideas which will make the city centre a more vibrant place.

Through 2016 and 2017 we will see a range of partnerships and activations deliver events in Our Cool Little Capital.

Come to Odgers Lane, Melbourne Building, on Friday 12 August, from 5pm to 9pm and join us in a conversation about creating a vibrant and forward thinking cool little capital.
