Upcoming lane closures as Ashley Drive duplication nears completion

Released 13/03/2018

Lane closures will be in place at the intersection of Ashley Drive and Erindale Drive over the coming weeks to complete median works as the duplication of Ashley Drive between Erindale Drive and Johnson Drive nears closer to completion.

Following the traffic switch which occurred in February, temporary lane closures are now required to complete upgrades in the median.

Location and timing of temporary lane closures

The median side lane on Ashley Drive either side of Erindale Drive will be closed after the morning peak on Wednesday 14 March, reopening on Saturday 24 March 2018.

Effects on traffic

There are no detours required for these works. Minor delays are expected, particularly on Ashley Drive during peak periods. Barriers as well as warning and diversion signs will be erected to alert people to the closure. Motorists should take additional care and follow the signage to ensure they are in the correct lanes. The current speed limit of 60km/h will remain in place.

Transport Canberra and City Services thanks the public for their understanding and patience during these interruptions.

The Ashley Drive duplication project has already reached a number of key milestones including:

  • Completion of the noise walls and works on the underground services
  • Completion of the Statton Street and Bugden Avenue underpasses
  • Construction of the Monks Creek Bridge
  • Installation of streetlights and completion of work on the stormwater infrastructure, and traffic and pedestrian islands.

The traffic lights are expected to be operational in April 2018 with the announcement of project completion to follow.
