Temporary road and lake closures for Skyfire 2018

The ACT Government wishes to advise motorists and other road users of temporary road and lake closures in Parkes from 6 am to 11 pm on Saturday 17 March for Skyfire 2018.

Closure locations and times

The following roads and car parks will be closed from 6 am to 10 pm:

  • Parkes Way westbound between Kings Avenue and Commonwealth Avenue on ramp
  • Wendouree Drive between Constitution Avenue and Kings Avenue
  • Queen Elizabeth Terrace between Parkes Place East and Parkes Place West
  • Barrine Drive car park
  • Regatta Point car park
  • Rond Terrace car park
  • Parkes Place West car park.

The following car park will be closed from 6 am to 11 pm:

  • National Library of Australia staff car park, southern section, King Edward Terrace.

The following roads will be closed from 12 pm to 10 pm:

  • King Edward Terrace from Parkes Place West to Parkes Place East
  • Mall Road.

The following road will be closed from 2 pm to 10 pm:

  • Parkes Way eastbound between Kings Avenue and Coranderrk Street roundabout exit.

The following roads will be closed from 4 pm to 10 pm:

  • Albert Street East and West
  • Commonwealth Avenue entrance to Regatta Place
  • Barrine Drive, Regatta Point.

The following road will be closed from 8 pm to 10 pm:

  • King Edward Terrace between Commonwealth Avenue and Parkes Place West.

The following lake closures will be in place from 10 am to 11 pm:

  • Central Basin, Lake Burley Griffin.

Effects on traffic

Barriers as well as warning and diversion signs will be erected to alert people to the closures. Traffic marshals will also be directing traffic. Motorists should expect delays on Commonwealth Avenue between 5 pm and 10 pm.

Only authorised vessels and users will be permitted in the Central Basin between 10 am and 11 pm.

Effects on public transport
