Capital Linen Service supports Ronald McDonald House Charities

You may not recognise the name, but if you’ve been in Canberra for long enough or popped by for a visit, you’ve definitely experienced the high quality service provided by Capital Linen Service.

Capital Linen Service has run the facility since 2004 with staff who work seven days a week to sort, wash, dry, fold and distribute around 130 tonnes of linen each week. General Manager of Capital Linen Service, Daniel Childs, spoke of the breadth of industries that Capital Linen Service provide to.

“Capital Linen Service is the only large-scale laundry in the ACT region. We service hospitals, health and aged care providers, hotels, restaurants, major tourist attractions, educational institutions and emergency services,” Mr Childs said.

“Our facility has large-scale washing machines which can continually process up to 1,500 kilograms per hour, contributing to our staff laundering around 10 million items of linen each year for more than 100 customers across the Territory. We cater for over 200 different types of products ranging from sterile theatre linen to table cloths and blankets.”

It is not only corporate customers that benefit from the high quality service provided. Capital Linen Service also provides for charities.

“In the 2017-18 Financial Year, Capital Linen Service donated more than $15,000 worth of linen to Ronald McDonald House. This included bath mats and towels, face washers, hand towels, pillow cases, single sheets and more.”

Ronald McDonald House is an independent charity helping keep the families of seriously ill children together and close to the care their child needs. In Canberra, Ronald McDonald House is located inside the Centenary Hospital for Women and Children in Garan. Executive Officer for Ronald McDonald House Canberra, Michelle McCormack, spoke of the quality of service provided by Capital Linen Service.

“Capital Linen are fantastic supporters of Ronald McDonald House Canberra. Our linen fairies come through our big red doors daily, ensuring we have clean linens for the hundreds of families using our house each year. Their support is vital in assisting us to reduce costs and support more families in need,” said Ms McCormack.
