Catching public transport in and around the city is going to be even easier with bus services to recommence on Constitution Avenue between London Circuit and Coranderrk Street from Saturday (7 January 2017).
“Services along that section of Constitution Avenue were changed to allow for upgrades to be completed in the area,” Director, Public Transport Operations, Ian McGlinn, said.
“The extension of Constitution Avenue has improved access in to the city, by giving motorists more access to parking opportunities and completing the east-west link for the road. It will also allow better access to public transport in the city with the addition of dedicated bus lanes.
“The Constitution Avenue upgrades officially opened to general traffic in August 2016. Some final works which needed to be completed to allow the safe movement of buses through the area. This included completion of curb works and line marking, including the red paint for the bus lanes.
“Now that this has been completed the following routes, which are currently diverted, will return to Constitution Avenue:
- Weekday routes: 4, 5, 11, Red Rapid series and a number of Xpresso Services (712, 714, 717, 743, 744, 765, 767, 775)
- Weekend routes: 938, 980
“With the reopening of services onto Constitution Avenue a number of routes off London Circuit will change stop locations to allow for the change in new road conditions.
“Stops affected include:
- – London Circuit/Commonwealth Bank
- – London Circuit/Waldorf Stop
“Signage has been placed at impacted stops and customer service staff will be on hand to assist with passenger enquiries.
“The Tourist Route 81/981 will change its route due to the reopening. The route will now service Constitution Avenue including stopping at the inbound stop at the National Convention Centre.”
