Car parks on Mort Street to close, more car parks on the way soon

Released 31/10/2017

Transport Canberra and City Services would like to advise that some off street car parking in Braddon will not be available from Wednesday 1 November 2017 due to construction activity associated with the former NRMA building and the site of Geocon’s Midnight development.

Approximately 35 off street car parking spaces on the western side of Mort Street from the Elouera Street intersection will be affected. The closures of car park spaces will be along a 100 metre section (northbound) of Mort Street.

Some car parking is expected to reopen on the eastern side of Mort Street in December 2017 once the current construction activity is completed.

When the new development at the construction site has been completed in 2019, 160 new public car parking spaces are expected to be available in the development.

What off street car parking is affected?

  • Mort Street on the western side from Elouera Street, 100 metres (northbound) towards Girrahween Street.
  • Motorists are reminded that off street parking is available on nearby Lonsdale Street, Haig Park and at the Canberra Centre a short distance away.

The 35 off street car parking spaces will not be available from 1 November 2017.
