Books, magazines and more, its all got to go at the library SALE

Released 24/03/2017

Following the successful inaugural book sale last November, the Libraries ACT book sale returns to the Tuggeranong branch on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 March 2017.

“Thousands of items in good condition have been withdrawn from our branches and will be marked for sale,” Libraries ACT Director, Vanessa Little said.

“We were delighted to have such a positive reaction to our first book sale in 2016 and we are giving readers the opportunity to visit the Tuggeranong branch on both Saturday and Sunday to inspect the variety of items for sale.

“Approximately 60,000 new items are added to Libraries ACT collection each year and this book sale will help to provide the space needed to keep all branches fresh and updated with new material.

“We will continue to donate items to the community through aged care homes, charities as well as child and family care centres. These book sales will help to support literacy in Canberra through targeted Libraries ACT programs.

“There are always a variety of Library programs at our branches that include story time for children, technology, talks and workshops. Sunday 26 March 2017 will also feature two author talks from children’s authors Deborah Abela and Susanne Gervay at the Belconnen and Gungahlin branches.

“This weekend’s book sale is a chance for all ages to find a bargain and add something to their home collection,” Ms Little concluded.

The Libraries ACT book sale commences from 10 am - 4 pm Saturday and 12 pm - 4 pm on Sunday at the Tuggeranong branch on Cowlishaw Street. Prices will vary with a variety of magazines for sale for 20 cents, picture books, junior fiction and junior non-fiction at $1.00, fiction and large print for $2.00 and $3.00 for non-fiction books. Only cash payments will be accepted.
