Released 22/10/2016

The ACT Government is happy to announce that the final stage of repair works to Acton tunnel were completed this afternoon, Saturday 22 October 2016.

The changed traffic arrangements to the westbound lanes of Parkes Way around the tunnel during the works, including lane closures and a reduced speed, have now been lifted. The speed limit through the Acton tunnel is now back to 90 kilometres per hour.

Repairs involved the removal and disposal of the remaining damaged roof panels and the installation of new panels and warning signage.

This work was necessary to finalise repairs following the damage caused to Acton tunnel in October 2015. The $1.2 million cost of the repair work is being met through insurance coverage.

The ACT Government would like to thank the public for their patience during the works.
