Residents take next step to move to Taylor

Released 12/10/2017

Taylor’s residents are a step closer to residing in Gungahlin’s newest suburb with the first settlements of blocks confirmed last week.

With a number of settlements occurring on Friday 6 October, construction of new homes is expected to start on some blocks before Christmas and first residents to move in around mid 2018.

Taylor features an abundance of green spaces and amenities for these new residents to enjoy. Offering a sense of space in a suburban setting, Taylor is planned to have district playing fields, playgrounds, parkland and shared paths connecting to the adjacent suburbs of Casey and Jacka.

Located in north Gungahlin, Taylor is just 4km from the Gungahlin Town Centre. It is adjacent to Horse Park Drive, to the north of Casey and Moncrieff and to the west of the future development area within Jacka.

Following ballot land sales for the first 126 single residential blocks in February, the development of Taylor will strengthen the housing sector by offering quality land that caters for the demand for homebuyers who want to build their own home. Taylor is around 317 hectares in size.

The ACT Government’s Indicative Land Release Program (ILRP) from 2017-18 to 2020‑21 has identified another 1,880 dwellings to be released in Taylor, including:

  • 400 dwellings in 2017-2018;
  • 500 dwellings in 2018-2019;
  • 200 dwellings in 2019-2020; and
  • 780 dwellings in 2020-2021.
