Molonglo Valley residents get their hands dirty

Released 25/08/2017

Residents of Wright and Coombs will get their hands dirty on SUNDAY as part of a tree planting event in the Molonglo River corridor.

The tree planting will help restore wildlife connectivity in the area. Casuarina tube stock will be planted with residents also installing tree guards around each plant to keep kangaroos at bay.

The event is part of the ACT Government’s Mingle program which aims to foster a sense of community by bringing together residents of Canberra’s newest suburbs to protect and improve an important local environmental area.

This event follows on from successful tree planting activities held in 2014 and 2016 where approximately 900 trees, shrubs and groundcovers were planted.
