ACT Adult Community Education (ACE) Grants Program
Adult Community Education (ACE) plays a critical and unique role alongside Canberra’s vocational education and training sector.
ACE participants often face complex barriers to participation in learning or work; may be vulnerable, hard to reach and engage; or need to learn the skills to thrive in formal training settings.
The ACT ACE Grants Program supports ACE projects delivered in welcoming and supportive community-based environments. Each year since 1998, the ACT Government has funded ACE projects that target local needs, capturing the interest of participants through engaging delivery. These projects have reached a broad range of people, from the long-term unemployed, disengaged young people and mature-aged Canberrans, migrant populations and those whose language, literacy and numeracy skills are underdeveloped.
The ACT ACE Grants Program is recognised as a vehicle for the delivery of accredited and non-accredited foundation skills learning activities with far-reaching potential for individual empowerment and development. Importantly, these broad-based activities also teach participants how to engage in informal learning that makes formal training possible and future employment more likely.
